A raw and realistic look into the lives of two LA police officers as they uncover cartel activity in their neighbourhood. The chemistry between Gyllenhaal and Pena feels very natural, the dialogue is mundaine yet funny and the cinematography puts you in the middle of the action.

Realistic and great concept 8/10

This one’s up there on my favorite movies list. Peña and Gylenhaals relationship is unbeatable, they’ve got such a good chemistry between them. It was action packed, funny, and dramatic, creating a great story. I really liked the cinematography in this movie with the handheld and first person angles because it makes you feel like you’re right there with them. Arguably the best cop movie out there. Would highly recommend. The ending though.. MAN.

good crime drama kinda hits hard when you see one die and the other survive in that kind of situation. good depiction of gang wars and casualties involved in modern times
