Slow Horses

I don't know why I held this off for so long. The older Gary 'Old'man gets, the more I enjoy his performances. The character writing is some of the best I've seen in television. There's so many original personalities and comforting actors. It's like 'Mission Impossible' but with the satirical rejects. You gradually connect to each character and understand why they're the misfits. I've seen so many spy thrillers but rarely do they stay committed to continuously thrilling. Every single 6 episode season is ram-packed with action, drama, humour, and emotion. It builds up trust by being predictable and then shatters it completely with unique ideas. I never want it to stop.

Very slow burn British spy drama/thriller with tons of build-up and satisfying season finales. Each season is short and sweet, perfectly so. If you’re a fan of the genre, you’ll feel right at home, but I can imagine some dedicated viewing for newcomers.

Great show about unsuspecting spies.

This is easily one of the best shows on streaming right now. Watched The Americans last year and while this isn’t as sexy as that show, it’s the new top-tier spy thriller that you’ve gotta see if you love great acting, perfect pacing, and expertly woven character development. Plus the author is still pumping out books every year or so which means we could have this show for a solid 5-10 more seasons if Oldman can keep it up (an undeniable standout). Don’t miss this! It’s quick and excellent by every metric!
