imhotep is so silly… the way him and helen look at each other makes me so crazy, and she is so beautiful

Karloff owned the golden age monster genre. An epic story told in under 90min. Grand in scale of set/costumes, though doesn’t have the punch of story like Frankenstein does. Beautiful and haunting. Universal Monsters are ageless.

Solid Universal Monsters feature if one of the weaker of the main ones. Similar themes and tone approached here as in other UM films but you can’t complain because it works. It could’ve done with more ‘Mummy’ however

Boris Karloff will always be a star! Still better than at least half of the adaptations coming out to this day
