I hate this movie. The scene in the club is gonna give someone an epileptic stroke. Nicole kidman cheats on her husband the entire movie without showing the smallest bit of remorse. Was her husband neglectful? No. Was he abusive? No. He was perfect and supportive and caring and she cheated on him over and over again and MADE HIS NAME THE SAFE WORD WITH HER INTERN???! She is a terrible person who makes it out of the movie marriage and career fully intact. 0/10

6.7 - I don’t love the experience of essentially watching porn in a packed theater, but this movie itself wasn’t bad.

Nicole Kidman is great. She plays all aspects of her character well. She shows a range of strong emotions & plays off her costars well. Harris Dickinson is fine, but I think his role could have been easily interchanged with a whole bunch of guys.

My first big issue is that I don’t fully buy the plausibility. I just don’t know if I can fully believe any intern being so bold, especially on day 1. And I don’t think I buy into any woman CEO, especially a successful one, with so much to lose, in a post #MeToo world, being so bold to allow something like this when there are so many other ways to satiate these fantasies (as directly stated at the end?). My second issue is that it wraps up all too cleanly. There’s hardly any consequences or damage for anyone involved in any of this? I could maybe look past that much more easily 5 or so years ago but in today’s age I feel like I at least need a scapegoat somewhere.

Ultimately, it’s stuck in the middle in a lot of ways. Doesn’t make a super strong statement with its ending, doesn’t lean into its sexiness or comedy fully, & ends safely & predictably. Maybe I had higher hopes, I don’t know.

But otherwise, acting was solid, music was solid, tension was decent, & the target audience (i.e. the women all aged 25-50 in my 100% full theater with exactly 3 men, myself included) really enjoyed it.
