What If...?
This show gave so much fan service and that really is the whole point.
Each premise for each episode was also pretty fantastic too

What If...?
Yeah I'm changing from a "love" to "meh" because one (out of three) amazing season can't justify the show being good.
Started off AMAZING, stories we wanted, interesting, explored possibilities, to then becoming...the power of feminism and friendship? Idek, good start, 🤷🏽♂️ ending

There were a few good episodes with potential to develop into a great show. However, the overall storyline was a let down. The biggest weakness is the overuse of Captain Carter. They should have kept her in season 1 and explored other characters for the season finales of 2 and 3.

it’s really only worth your time to watch the first season or even just the first couple episodes it gets starts to get weird when the watcher becomes part of the story and not just a narrator.

What If...?
Let me get this out of the way: I do not like this show. But honestly, it pains me to say that. This was such a good idea for a show!! What If is such a cool story concept, and opens sooooo many possibilities. And animation allows them to do that in a way that certainly could not be done in live action. They could literally do anything!
So… they do interesting concepts, right?
No.
This is not to say that there are no good episodes. Some of them are actually FANTASTIC pieces of MCU content. “What if Doctor Strange lost his hands instead of his heart?” was one of my favorite stories in the MCU, period. But the problem with the show lies in the name of the episode I just said. What if Doctor Strange lost his hands instead of his heart? What the hell does that even mean? Like, they obviously had a great idea for a story. But they had a great idea for a story rather than a great “what if” question. What if Thanos snapped the other half? What if the Civil War sides were reversed? There are some really interesting concepts that could totally change story outcomes! Not just “what if character X was character Y” or some other question nobody would really ask.
It’s just soooo frustrating to imagine all of the super cool ideas there could be and see what they went for instead. The show is also limited by the fact that for some reason they made it a serialized story. I am ALL for cool connective tissue between episodes, but it just doesn’t work with this show. Why is Captain Carter at the center of it all? I actually think she’s a pretty cool character, but it’s just weird to see her pop up over and over again.
Oh, and the actual voice performances are… questionable. Some are straight up awful, some are okay. But it’s just pretty noticeably bad in some episodes.
There are certainly redeeming aspects of this show, but the negatives far outweigh them. Watch the Doctor Strange Episode, watch the Ultron episode… maybe watch the 1872 episode? Other than that, it’s pretty safe to skip.
