The Night of the Hunter

The night of the Hunter is one of the greatest works of American Cinema to come out of the 1950s. It is beautifully written, and the shots are both stunning and chilling. The use of shadows especially, almost Caligarian in nature really brought everything together. 9/10

Crazy use of lighting in this one. Really starts to be so compelling. Seeing it from a current POV I get really upset by some of the characters choices. Really creepy and suspenseful. Recency Bias score: 8/10

popping out in 1955 making one movie and then dipping. oh my wow this movie was so friggen good

The film didn't have much tension as I'd hoped at first, but it did pick up in the second act. The heartwarming moments for these kids in the third act were great. When Rachel Cooper pulled out the shotgun, iconic right there.

10/10 Robert Mitchum had a great performance. The beautiful Shelley winters and a unique plot.
