The Last Voyage of the Demeter

This movie was badass.

6.2 - decent but could have been great. Awesome set up, cool moments, well-designed & effective sets, & cool creature design. Terrible pace, uneven writing. Felt reminiscent of old school monster movies but with something significant missing.

Consistently creepy yet rarely terrifying, this flat spinoff doesn’t make any meaningful additions to the mythology of the source material. There’s a brief novelty to the bloody spectacle but this supposed final voyage feels considerably thin by its end.

Great take on a single chapter from Bram Stokers Dracula that expands what happened on the Doomed Sailing ship The Demeter. Sort of a survival horror in the late 1800’s at sea.
