Sonic the Hedgehog

Still can’t believe we bullied an entire studio into changing the way that Sonic looks but it was very necessary 🤣

Grew up playing Sonic so this was especially great for me - how come none of you told me to watch this earlier 😭

Excited to watch the sequel!

Awful just awful

Honestly, this is just a pretty generic kids movie, but it was still fun to watch. The obvious highlight here was Jim Carrey as Robotnik - I have honestly never been a huge fan of Jim Carrey, but he easily brings the most energy and charisma out of everyone else in the film COMBINED. I loved him in this movie. Other than that, there aren’t really any performances of note. James Marsden was okay, but didn’t really do anything that special, and Ben Schwartz honestly kind of got on my nerves. The plot was super basic, and hit basically every kid’s movie trope. However, I really respect how true they stayed to the character of Sonic and the lore of the games, so I absolutely credit them for that. If you want to see a fun, light-hearted, live-action depiction of Sonic, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed by this. Just don’t go in expecting anything particularly groundbreaking.
