It was made during a different time and it reflects that. Glad it’s not in circulation. But all the 💜 ratings. Just shows how amerikkka hasn’t changed.

I wanted to rewatch this film to see if my opinion had change since my last viewing. There is honestly quite a lot to say even with the amount of controversy that surrounds it.
This film is honestly remarkable for its time. The process committed to combine live action and animation is glorious. Especially for it’s release in 1946. James Baskett performance as Uncle Remus is wonderful. It always gives me inspiration from how wholesome he is.
I’m honestly glad for this day and age, the music is still appreciated to a great extent. There is such a cheery nature that comes off from each line which gives each person a way to find their happy place. Old Disney really knew how to bring out a wonderful time with its heartwarming moments

I know it is a controversial movie, but my family & I grew up singing “Zip-a-Dee-doo-dah” & watching this on VHS at my grandparents’ house. &, despite the controversy, there is a very important lesson about “looking past your pride and recognizing the wisdom of children” here
