I've seen this movie countless times over the years, every single time it’s incredibly sad & traumatizing. During this era in movies it was done well & the casting was great. I think the one thing I always thought was missing was a close friend that the Julia Roberts could have turned to besides the women at the Y.

I love how well Julia Roberts depicts the contrasting feelings that her character went through from one second to the next. Also, the movie shows a very good depiction of the constant fear she lived in.
