Purple Noon

The blend of visual and aural elements in this film is great! I didn’t vibe with the plot, but if I did it would be a higher score.

I preferred Purple Noon over The Talented Mr. Ripley for its more realistic tone, but the last 30 minutes started to lose me. That might’ve been because I watched it on a plane with poor earbuds, struggling to hear over the turbulence even with the volume maxed out.

i’ve now watched all three ripley movies. while this one was alright i feel the story didn’t come through too easily and that i only could make sense of the beginning bc i had watched the 1999 version first. some of its flaws can be explained by the style of movies back then.
