Portrait of a Lady on Fire

In French, the title is “Portrait de LA jeune fille en feu” which means “portrait of THE lady on fire”. For it to be “a lady” the French title should’ve been “portrait d’une jeune fille en feu”. Subtle but changes everything, Heloise isn’t just any woman on fire, she’s THE woman.

You will never forget this movie

i’m devastated. beautifully done movie. I’ve been avoiding this one for a while cause I knew it would fuck me up. the longing looks were well done, I felt them so deeply. the portrait of her with her kid while holding open page 28 almost made me bawl. the closing scene was crazy.

I now see what the hype is all about. This was incredible, every second felt like a stunning portrait.
The cast was literally perfect for each other. The deep emotions and tension between them was unbelievable.
And the soundtrack was truly out of this world. Unforgettable.
