The plot twist was crazy ngl 😧

This movie was honestly terrible and sooo cheesy (peak early ‘10s corny) but I still somehow enjoyed it so this escapes meh or worse. Will be watching the sequel next which I anticipate is equally as silly

8.0 - Great movie, it’s awesome that as the movie goes on that Thaddeus talks through and reveals how they did all their tricks. Can’t wait to watch the second one (and third now that it’s greenlit)

Very cool play on optical illusions and plot twist was done well!

I rewatched some movies from 2013 and realised it wasn't just the era, that took a toll on this. The director or someone with a big voice did. It's the recipe for a masterpiece. A stacked cast, with terrible writing. Big and beautiful visuals, ruined by forgettable directing. Magic and mystery, flattened by its tone. Smart and stylish sequences squelched by inconsistent pacing. For every part I loved, there's a part I hate. Something it did do well was introduce us to the NYSM world, building interest for its sequels.

Despite the consensus, I enjoyed this movie when I watched it. Maybe it’s more cheesy than I remember, but I’m a sucker for cool magic movie
