A Nightmare on Elm Street

If you can make a generation scared to go to bed you did your fucking job as a horror movie. As this is the only good one in this franchise, I loved it. This is proof you don’t need a big budget to make a good movie. Freddy was just scary dude. Plus good cast of characters. 8/10.

Movies like nightmare on elm street remind me how older scary classics just hit different in a better way than most new horror movies cannot

7.7 - My first watch in over a decade did not disappoint. I first saw this way too young (maybe 9) & the concept really scared me. A killer with superpowers that could kill you in your sleep was terrifying. Now though, this is peak classic campy 80s horror. The acting is pretty bad, the script is frequently laughable, and the bad decisions pile up absurdly quickly. But it’s so much fun, the practical effects are *fantastic*, & Freddy is still the scariest to me of the classic horror villains. I’ve never seen another of this franchise, but I definitely want to soon.
